This really is a day out not to be missed by Greeves enthusiasts! We start off with a Greeves-related autojumble, usually plenty of bargains with members tending to clear bits out of their sheds and finding a good home for them. There will also be traders, including Villiers Services so stock up and avoid carriage charges!
The Hall cafe then opens up with hot drinks and snacks available. There is a display of bikes so bring yours along and add to it, there are cups available for best road machine and also off-road, you could be a winner. Voting is by those present so no fiddling by the management! Regalia will be on sale including our new range of tee shirts. Whilst on the subject, please let us know if there are any items you think we should be making available in the future. It will also be possible to renew your membership so bring your renewal form and money!
Talking of money, we will again be having a raffle but this year, we have taken it up a gear with some great prizes! Amongst these will be one years GRA membership (don’t worry if you have already renewed, you will get a refund) plus some regalia so it will be worth buying some tickets. Remember that any money raised goes into club funds plus there is the banter involved in the act of buying tickets – worth the money for that alone (eh, Dick?!)
The Hall cafe will also be available lunchtime, again supplying a range of drinks and snacks, egg rolls, bacon rolls, sausage rolls, you name it!
Following this we have the guest speaker who this year is none other than Andrew King our Archivist, who will be giving another of his excellent talks based on our extensive archives (which were, of course, collected by Andrew in the first place!).
Following this, we will hold the AGM BUT before this, there will be an opportunity to escape if you don’t want to stay for this part. We have a ‘comfort break’ of about 10 minutes so that provides you with a chance to slip out of the door. We always go to a lot of trouble to obtain the services of the guest speaker and we like to see a big audience in the hall to hear what they have to say. If you need to get away promptly, please give a thought to staying for the talk first. Please!
Obviously I would like you to take part in the AGM and hear how your club is doing. You will have the opportunity to have your say and even volunteer for a place on the committee. One post we STILL need to fill is for a General Secretary so if that is you, please volunteer your services.. We are a lively bunch and the few meetings we hold are never dull!
Anyway, I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day, I know you will have a great time!
