    Having a bit of fun!

Thanks Dicky, and rest assured I have a few pics lined up for this years 'traditional' Festive Caption Comp.....stay tuned!

I hope as many people will join in as possible, the more the merrier. It's just a bit of harmless fun, and as you said mate, with all the doom and gloom about these days we all could use a good chuckle now and then.

    Brian.

The calendars sold well for a couple of years, but then suddenly the demand dropped and we were left with a surplus. We managed to sell them off at shows, but at a loss.

Perhaps it was because I'd used up all the archive pictures of pretty girls...

                Emu this!!!!

Brian this is way off subject...but the Emu fits and I HAD to share my Emu story.....they are evil beasts!

When I lived in ID my father in law had cows, a friend of his had several 100 acres of hay that he had bailed. He did not need the hay and gave my father in law quite the deal on it, BUT though bailed the hay was still in the fields and the deal was we had to gather and load the bails...no biggie right.

Here was the catch, the gentleman with the hay raised Emu's, he had several dozen that were let loose in the fields where the hay was. He sold the Emu eggs, and see, they had not been around people much. So to get the hay we had to walk amongst them.

The females were sweethearts, ate right out of our hands. The males kept their distance.

Sooo, mother in law drove the truck slow and myself, sister and brother in law and ex husband threw the bales of hay up into the truck, also my father in law. Well I kept an eye on the male Emu's as they got closer and closer...YOU should see the Talons on those things....

Anyway, one in particular seemed to be circling me closely...I bent over to grab a bail of hay and I heard my father in law start screaming...I didn't even look, just dropped the bale and ran as fast as I could for the darn truck, the entire time the Emu's head was at my side and he was clicking his beak open and closed right next to my right ear. I scrambled into the truck just in time....spent the next 4 hrs in the cab with that darn male Emu pecking at the glass and looking in at me!

I was teased for years and called Emu girl...lol, my father in law thought it particularly funny that I never looked back, just RAN!!!

I now have a deep rooted non trust of the bruits!

Tammy, let me introduce you to Bernard....!!!

                  Tammy!

How ya doin'!!!! Great to see all your brilliant new posts, nice ones!

Hope you and Dave and the 'gals' are all good.

Hey, don't worry about about goin' 'off-topic' on this thread, that's the point of this one in a way. Now and then I think it's fun to have a thread like this where we can all just mess about a bit, blow off a bit of steam and have a few giggles, without worrying too much about 'the rules'....! We all do pretty well keeping the 'serious' stuff on-track, but nothing wrong with a bit of fun along the way (well, it never stopped US did it!)

I remember your Emu story Tammy, and it terrified the gremlins out of me the last time too.... I think you were very brave. Me, I'd have probably just froze on the spot and been eaten.... Hey Tammy, I've got a REAL proplem with my latest bird, Bernard....he just won't stop chasing the Grizzly's.... Chairman Rob promised to bring me a Yeti back from his recent trip to Nepal, but apparently the 'authorities' wouldn't let him bring it onto the plane as 'hand luggage'.....It was last seen making it's way home, having stolen a pedal cycle at the airport.....poor thing.... I was hoping that he would help calm Bernard down a bit and give him a little playmate to go foraging with, but now, I don't know what to do with him.....

Great to see you postin' Tammy, welcome back!

                      Ha!

Can't think why it reminded you of me though......I don't look anything like him....!! At least it proves the value of having a sense of humour.....
