Could they have been unstamped replacement cases, or stamped second hand cases that were over stamped to replicate (although incorrectly) the originals?
We will probably never know.
It obviously hasn't been raced for yonks as it has Dunlop Traingulars on it which must be at least 40 years old.
For that price it might well finish up as my next project to go with my 24RES

tony, I think that way back someone changed the cases. The new number would appear to be mumbo jumbo at best. Either way it wont stop a new owner from rebuilding the engine and bringing the bike back to a running condition. The hammer price will underscore those achieved in the Tony East sale.
