    The number was issued in 1978 & it looks like it was only taxed for the one year (expiry date 31/8/79). Obviously the DVLA did not check back then the age of the bike, & just issued a current number. Number is not showing on DVLA web site so looks like the number is in the DVLA archived records of numbers that were withdrawn from the main computer in the early 80's for vehicles that were not re taxed during that period. I am surprised that Mike Worthy-Williams did not spot the fact that the Challenger was made in 1966.
