Setting the timing on a 4t

Can I set the timing by using a dial gauge in the spark plug hole’s and what measurements should I be using.
Ive got a manual but can’t see any info on it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can use a dial gauge its 0.140 to 0.170 inches before TDC (page 8 in workshop manual) https://www.james-motorcycles.com/wp...hop-manual.pdf
