  • Registration number transfer ban

(this from routeONE bus & coach trade magazine)

As a result of the scrapping of MoT's for all vehicles registered before 1st January 1960 the removal of registration numbers will be outlawed if current guidelines remain unchanged.
Under present conditions transfer or retention of registration numbers is not permitted unless the vehicle is "of a type that needs an MoT"
After 18th November 2012 vehicles registered before 1st January 1960 will be re classified as MoT exempt making it impossible to transfer their registation number even if the owner of the vehicle has a voluntary MoT.

So is this good news? In theory it should result in a reduction on resale prices, as the number plate will no longer have a value. It will also mean that more vehicles will keep their original id & provanace.

That's a result John.I am told my number plates have a value but still consider they are part of the bikes history and should stay that way.
