  • Oilite bushes

Anyone ever used oilite small end bushes with a combination of castrol r & methanol, i`m not sure if the lubricant impregnated in the bush, will react with either. dave

It's an interesting question Dave and I'm afraid I can't help much as I've never considered using oilite bushes for small ends. If I haven't been able to get one off the shelf then I've turned the odd one or two out of Phos bronze bar. A bit old hat nowadays I guess as the trend seems to be needle rollers! Good luck with the thread.

      Oilite bush

I dont think the lubrication would be an issue, but the fact that an oilite bush being sintered phospher broze may not stand up to the stresses imposed in a little end. As Adrian says these should be made from solid phosphor bronze bar.
Oilite buses are designed for lightly loaded bearings in sealed for life applications such as electric motors.
