313 WPU was Bryan Sharp's 1961 ISDT mount, there is a pic of it on page 71 of the Greeves book. It was last known a few years ago when it was in the ownership of Mike Jackson (not the Mike Jackson of Greeves fame) & was sold to someone who was going to fit a BSA B40 motor. A DVLA check reveals it is currently licenced & indeed has a 350 engine, BUT, ASKMID shows it as unisured!! Mike was wondering if it was still around. Have you got it?

Bryan and Triss Sharp were recent guest speakers at the VMCC Dorset Section Celebrity evening. There is a picture in the local free newsheet from the evening showing Bryan sitting on Greeves reg: 311 WPU, with Competition number 171. Triss Sharp is standing alongside him.
The article states that "the machine is a 1961 ISDT Greeves loaned by Mike Hurford of Longburton."
You may of course already know this!
It should be fairly easy to trace Mr Hurford through the VMCC.John A - 268

This is 311 WPU which is known to the club as you say with Mike Hurford a GRA member. It was 313 WPU that I was looking for.
In the meantime 313 WPU is listed by DVLA as follows:-
The vehicle details for 313 WPU are:
Date of Liability 27 01 2014
Date of First Registration 24 04 1961
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 350cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
The DoL is 27th Jan 2014 so not a date tax would be due, (this is normally 1st of the month) This suggest a 'ghost listing' on DVLA getting an automatically updated DoL each year. Its not shown as insured on ASKMID either, confirming its not taxed.
Colin will remember the similar listing for 7 LHK a couple of years or so ago when it too appeared licenced. In fact it had been lost for years the last owner giving it away as a field bike.
In view of the 350cc engine it would appear that 313 WPU has been fitted with the BSA engine & of course could be doing the pre 65 scrambles circuit converted to a scrambler & devoid of number plates, owner oblivious to its passed history. Does anyone know what the frame number is so it could be identified?
