  • S25/1 Carb settings.

Getting there..... engine started 3rd kick and ran for all of 5 minutes before dying
On the plus side no oil pissing out.....yet!

I have a 34A Scrambles barrel fitted on my Trials 24TCS with 32A Head.

Stripped the carb down, adjusted and is now set up with.....

    S25/1 Carb

Slide No 3 with Needle protruding 1.85 inches from slide.
Float height 1/4 inch measured between float and seating area for large fibre washer.

Carb came with a 120 jet, is this correct as I'm sure I read another post somewhere with a different size??

Would I possibly have to change Main Jet size as I have a 34A Barrel ??

Not good at setting up carbs so any advice appreciated.

    Maintenance Manual lists the 32A Carb as a S25/6..............Needle protruding 1 27/32 inches ..............No 4 slide.......Main Jet 140.

    Cheers, John.

The S25/1 setting for TCS should be as follows:
    Main Jet 140
    Pilot jet 35
    Needle 3 1/2
    set out 1.85
    throttle slide 4

This set up should be OK for the 34A barrel if using standard trials exhaust. I fitted a 34A barrel to a 37A (same barrel as 32A) engined Sprite in my trials riding days and did not have to alter carb settings. The S25/number does not effect carb setting, it just designates features such as choke operating method idle screw etc. Here is the full list:
S.25 or blank (no stamping) Standard carb body; Spare/replacement.
S.25/1 Standard carb body, no strangler, but seperate cable operated strangler fitted for Bond cars and 9E; 9E and 32A.
S.25/2 Standard carb body with strangler and rod operation; 32A and 37A.
S.25/3 Standard carb body with strangler and cable operation; 3T and road bikes.
    S.25/4 Unknown details.
S.25/5 Choke bored to 1", no strangler; 2H and 32A.
S.25/6 Choke bored to 1", with strangler, rod operation; 32A and Starmaker.
S.25/7 Standard carb body with throttle stop; Bond and road bikes.
S.25/8 Standard carb body with strangler, cable operation and throttle stop; Bond and road bikes.

      Brilliant, thank you
Jet readily available, just need to find a throttle slide 4 now.

      Cheers, John.
