  • Griffon Trials outfit

A pic of this Griffon trails outfit has been posted on facebook Greeves Enthusiast page by a Richard Fogg of Bristol which his dad used to ride this in the early 80’s in long distance trials.

Anyone know anymore about exactly what it is? was Mr Fogg known in Greeves circles? The reg number MV 101 looks a bit of a red herring as its a London number from 1931. By 1968/9 when this bike would have been registered there would have been 3 letters and 3 digits plus a year identifier letter suffix.

There was a 380 Greeves outfit entered in the 1975 Welsh 2 Day Trial in 1975 ridden by J T Hall and A T Young of Birmingham and in 1976 another 380 Greeves entered by J Bishop and Clare Bishop of Coleford (not sure if it was the same outfit) There was also a 350cc Greeves outfit entered in 1976/7 & 8 by R P Hull passengered by S Hall (1976) and A P Hull (1977 & 8) from Ribblesford, Preston.

Update: The bike was ridden by Michael Fogg of Bristol, he did not build it but purchased it as it from another rider in the Bristol area. It was ridden in one day 25 mile type observed trials NOT enduro's such as Welsh Two Day, or really long distance events such as Lands End. The reg number is a 'red herring'. It was not actually the reg number but MV IDT which meant Mendip Vale International Drinking Team.! The bike was not actually road registered but was run on this plate but never queried by the police!
