I am tidying up a machine for a friend,it has a steel tank which has been roughly painted. My query what was the the original colour? I wondered if it was pale blue. Many thanks.

The famous 'Moorland Blue' see this previous thread http://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/for...and+Blue+Paint

In 1959 the 24TAS (250c) and the 20TAS (197cc) had a dull-chrome tank. If it is one of those and you're just tidying it up, just spray it silver

The 20TA (197cc) was stove enamelled "Essex Grey", which was actually quite a nice light blue colour.

The frame colour for both was indeed Moorland Blue.

So Essex Grey might have been Moorland Blue minus Black but plus White?

No doubt you jest..? Think of the top tank panel of a 25DC - that sort of colour.

Colin, yes it was a tongue in cheek comment! But was it bought in as that colour?
