  • TA with odd frame no

Hi , i have just swopped a nice 1958 TA for of all things a late model Beta trials bike that just wasnt getting used . The TA on first appearances looks spot on realy but on looking at the frame no it starts with a 9 instead of an 8 , full no is 9163/TA , does not look to be miss stamped , so what are the thoughts of the knowledgable? Also is a 58 TA any different to a 59 TA? Thanks
    Pat

    Pat,

That number is fine. '58 TA's can be either - when they got to 8999 they carried on at 9000!

This changed in October 1958 when the 1959 models became available, to the 'year prefix' format, ie. 59/XXXX

In turn, this carried on until the 'model prefix' format started, (I think), with the MCS scrambler in August 1961 with 24 MCS XXX, followed by the TE trials bike in October of that year, ie. 24 TE XXX.

Must rush, got to get the old anorak to the dry cleaners!

    Hope this helps, Rob
