  • Hawkstone rear brake

Hi folks, Got a 1958 Hawkstone frame with paddle type hubs. The rear brake plate is a cable operated one and is VERY close to the swinging arm........should this machine have a rear cable brake? Looking for photos if possible? Also need details/photos of swinging arm pivot assembly. Thanks.

Should have rod-operated rear brake, David, and Yes the rear brake plate should be close up against the swinging arm. In fact it bolts to it for anchorage. Perhaps if you could put photos up of your arrangement(s) we could comment further?
