  • MOT friendly exhaust for Hawkstone

Any suggestion about a "quieter" exhaust for a 24SCS?
Do you have any link to a supplier?
Attached is an image of what I got at the minute which seems too loud for an MOT testers ears. (but I might be wrong)
    Thanks

You could fit a TA / TAS Scottish exhaust, Armours do a pattern one including front pipe which will fit to your iron barreled engine
    https://www.armoursltd.co.uk/product...eves-scottish/ £55
    https://www.armoursltd.co.uk/product...ong-swing-arm/ £81

Thanks for the links. Any experience with one of those on a Hawkstone? (from Greeves ltd about £140)

Yes but that's only a silencer at £140. Armours do the correct Greeves pattern complete system, for a total £136. No contest is it?
As your Hawkstone appears to have the 32A trials cylinder barrel & Villiers S25 carb (Hawkstone had 34A barrel & 1 3/16" Amal 389 carb) its effectively a TAS trials engine so performance it should be fine

Looks the same as the Greeves Motorcycles one only at about 1/2 the price
But its still a very short silencer & will probably be as noisy as the one already fitted.

Thanks for all that. The Bike has a 33A Iron Barrel and a S25 Carb. I might just try to pass MOT with the current exhaust before buying one which is not much quieter in the end. Thanks again for all the help.

                Quieter exhaust

My Anglian failed its MOT because of a noisy exhaust.
Derek the tester suggested that I make a baffle to clip over the end of the pipe.
I used an old aluminium vacuum cleaner pipe cut about 3 inches off, cut
it lengthwise then a series of equal cuts down the metal, wrapped it round the exhaust, clamped it with a jubilee clip and tapped the strips over the end of the pipe leaving a hole about 1/2 inch for the gas to get out. Took it back the next morning and it passed.
                It was a lot quieter.
No cost all from the bits in the rubbish box.
                Mike

                  mot exhaust for hawkstone

                  Hi all.
You must have some strange testers as in my area i have had the Anglian and my Yamaha TDM 850 tested at 2 different test stations and they never even wanted them started, it seems some garages have different views on this then, i have a friend with a bonieville who has no silencers and he has his passed also and a Harley.??http://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/for...lies/smile.gif
