  • Fitting a Side Stand (1960 Hawkstone)

Hi, I bought a Side Stand from Greevesracing. I wondered if anybody has a good image of one fitted to a Hawkstone frame. Just want to make sure I understand the fitting instructions.
    Thanks

The Hawkestone being a scrambler did not have a side stand fitted. The Scottish is similar & this thread which includes a pic may help http://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/for...ght=Side+stand
Who are 'Greevesracing' nothing coming up on Google!!

      Hi,

My 61 MCS has the side stand mountings on the engine plates, as does my dads 60 scs hawkstone, so I should think you could fit one as the wheel sizes on the trials bikes and scramblers are very similar..

      Good luck.

            side stand problems

            Hi,
No way of fitting a side stand to this! Have to return (£100!) or sell it.

                I am confused now. I thought I had a 1960 SCS.

Looks like a previous owner has welded a plate to underside of engine plates, I think this was a common mod to beef up the engine plates, & as scramblers dont need prop stands, riders used to use a 2 gallon petrol can or maybe a home made stand that hooked over the footrest when in the paddock.
£100 for that stand was a bit steep, hopefully Richard Deal will do the honourable thing & give you a refund. But in fairness to him it would fit to the bike as originally built.

                    Thanks,
yes, Richard is happy to replace it with one which fits the bike!
