  • 24 MX 5 E No Frame number?

Can any one shed information as to why my 1967, 24 MX 5 E, TT Special Challenger has no frame number stamped ?
Typical answer is that the frame may have been replaced.
The history on this bike is that it was wasn't used in competition, used only as a trail bike in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Its condition reflects it had as easy life, still has original tires, fenders and the down pipe is in very good condition, hence I doubt the original frame was ever broken to the point of requiring replacement.

I've been able to document existance of at least 15 of the USA only short track Challengers, frame numbers:
    24 MX-5E: No numbers, 255, 257, 258, 263, 264, 277, 360, 366, 411, 415, 420, 425, 432, and 437.

So it appears they may have been produced in limited batches

I also have a DOT, circa 1968 (ALPHA/Albion/Metal Profiles) with no frame numbers??

    Anyone else come across this?

    Thanks
