  • Griffon 250 gearbox

    Hi All'
Just finished stripping gearbox and now need a bit of advise. The screw that holds the kickstart stop plate was only holding on the very last screw thread. On inspection i noticed that it had been hit with a centre punch,i'm assuming this is to splay the screw to keep it in place(if so it didn't work)also that the stop shows signs of wear. How much wear is acceptable?. On inspecting the gears i could find very little or no wear on the teeth but there was slight wear on the dogs(castle bits). Again what is acceptable before the gears need replacing. I have counted the teeth on all gears as i would like to know if it is a wide or close ratio box. All part numbers are from the model 56 illustrated parts list and the number of teeth on my gears on the left with the list number on the right. The far right number is the exploded view item number

    Mainshaft.

    G1134/9 28-26 40
    G1134/117 25-24 41
    G1134/175 22-21 44
    G1134/11 18-18 45

    Layshaft.

    G1134/15 20-22 54
    G1134/14 23-24 55
    G1134/13 26-27 57
    G1134/12 ks 30-30 59

Also i can't find a contact number for Geoff Nunn,so if anyone can put me in the right direction it would help.
    Many thanks.
    Mick.
