  • Essex Mk2 Control Levers

Hi, I’m thinking of replacing my clutch and brake levers with some newer ball end type. I believe the Doherty ones are the correct type but could anyone enlighten me as to whether the nipple to pivot distance should be 7/8 or 1.1/16 inch. Mine currently has 1.1/16 type fitted. Just checking this is correct. Thanks

    1 1/16 " is the correct one

Different bike I know but the front brake seems better with good leverage and travel on my Hawkstone based bike with a 7/8" lever. As it has a Triumph engine, 7/8" is right for the clutch as well on this.

7/8 can result in clutch dragging on a Villiers engine, also some 7/8 levers sold are shorter length
