  • East Coaster rear sprocket

    Hi All
Where can I buy a 48 tooth rear sprocket for an EC? Does it have to be a solid sprocket (ie with no drilled holes to lighten it).? Is there, for example, a cush drive behind the solid sprocket?. I can have a rear sprocket made by one of the specialist but I would have to give them my existing sprocket for a pattern, and I would prefer to leave the existing one in situ until the new is available.
    Thanks in advance for info.

It does not have to have lightening holes, only the fixing holes. Yes there is a cush drive between sprocket carrier and hub.Try Gary Bamford for a sprocket if not Villiers Services https://www.britishbikes1970.com/parts.

On the subject of sprockets, the ones with cutouts as used on the alloy full width British Hubs were made by Williams of Birmingham, a company more known for the manufacture of bicycle chain wheels. Not sure if these were original equipment and bought in by Greeves or later pattern ones, as Gary Bamford tells me that most of the Greeves drawings show plain sprockets (except for some larger scramble ones) I have found this link to Williams https://www.classiclightweights.co.u...dentification/ the 'sword' logo can be seen on the sprocket in attached pic
