  • Erratic Speedo Drive

The speedo on my East Coaster has become erratic, sometimes swinging other times stopping altogether. Wriggling the cable often causes it to settle down and work as normal but it doesn't stay that way for long. Having stripped it down the only thing I can see that's amiss is at the hub drive end. The cable drive connector allows the cable square to go beyond the square key section and then it rotates freely. I think that wiggling the cable pulls it back in to the key square restoring drive. There appears to be a section on the cable drive for a circlip but nothing is fitted - see picture. Whilst I had the cable out I took the opportunity to clean & lubricate it - it moves more freely as a result and now doesn't seem to engage drive at all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve the problem? If it needs parts suggestions of a source also appreciated.

    Thank you

Looks like the cable is too short and square drive coming out of drive adaptor shown in your pic, maybe by a new complete cable from https://www.feked.com/?subcats=Y&pco...roducts.search
    or http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/html/cables.html
