How can you tell the difference between a 2T and a 1H ignition coil? The external type.

If you are talking about the originals, dont bother with those relics, fit the small modern Japanese ones sold from various sources, including VS, but much cheaper on eBay. See my thread http://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/for...ignition+coils
There were two types of coil used on the 2T the early one which resembled a small brick and a smaller one fitted to the later 2T & 4T engines. I see no reason why the 1H one would not be interchangable other than the mounting. Obviously the modern ones are much smaller so take up less space, and new brackets need to be made.

Thanks again John.According to the Villiers book they are different.I am trying to identify the ones that I already have. The book says that they are similar but doesn't tell you the difference.

As they are from a Villiers AC system and the 1H uses same electrics as 2T they will work on either engine
