  • Starting, and carb settings.

    My East Coaster used to start fairly well 5/6 kicks now if I go out can take 10 minutes when parked for a short time.If you stop switch off then on first kick.Have just fitted air filter as original.Any clues where to start(pun intended)

    As you say it was ok before you fitted air filter, carb settings may need looking at. The settings for the S25/6 carb on your bike are as follows:

    Main jet 180
    Pilot jet 35
    Needle 3 1/2
    Needle set out (distance from bottom of slide to tip of needle) 1.94 inches
    Throttle slide 3
    If all in order it may be that the air screw needs adjusting, turn clockwise to richen & anti clockwise to weaken mixture. The mixture should be set as weak as possible consistant with steady reliable idling speed.
