  • 25DB front number plate

    Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a source for the number plate fitting across the forks under the headlight- not the one with holes for bolts to go right through, but one with blind deep nuts fixed on the back to take screws?

The size is 10 inches x 2.5 inches the Pillars (deep nuts) are 7/8 inches long. I think the originals are made of steel. So a piece of 18swg sheet & braze/weld the pillars to it. This is really just a mounting plate, the actual number plate of same dimensions would be screwed to it. On my bike I have the pressed alloy type, still available from specialist number plate makers like Tippers http://www.tippersvintageplates.co.uk/
If you cannot make the mounting plate yourself any competent sheet metal company/engineering firm should be able to make it up.

      .

John, I believe there were curved plates as well. Do you have any info on these?

        Front number plates.

Have had a dig thro' all the roadster parts books. Only curved plates on early steel valanced mudguards. All the DB and DC models had number plate part no. M11/X16 with loose spacers about 3/8" long part number M14/X4 2 off.

        Keith.

No nothing, only the one on my bike which I measured, Maybe the curved part was the actual number plate, as most bikes had these fitted to front mudguard then I suspect dealers used curved blanks they had in stock.

            25DB front number plate

            Thanks gents.
John, my 32DB has one straight as you describe with stick-on digits, but there is not one fitted on the 25DB and obviously in 1959 it had to have one.
I just hoped someone made them but I am prepared to make one .
Thanks again for your help and prompt replies.

Hi Pat, the 32DB is a rare bike. I had a very early 1959 one way back in 1983 Not ... 40 GFC by any chance?
