  • GGW 57C owner are you out there?

GGW 57C is one of a batch of Essex 4T engine police bikes supplied to the City of London Police in 1965, if you are the owner please come on board or get in contact, as this may be the only survivor of 6 similar machines supplied to CoLP. Would be interesting to know if its still in police trim. According to DVLA & ASKMID its taxed & insured so someone must have it.
Looked similar to this one (GEV 824B) from previous batch when new

    Update
Following a request for owner to get in touch via Mike Worthington-Williams OBM column, GGW 57C has been found alive with a long standing GRA member in Essex. He tells me that the bike was later fitted with a 2T engine whilst still with the police. After the City of London police it went to a technical college for instructional purposes to train students in motor cycle mechanics, the current owner bought it in a poor state in 1978 & restored it as a Sports Twin. He still has most of the original parts so it could be restored as a police bike at some future date. At least its history is known & the owner aware of it. Apparently this bike & its sister GGW 56C were fitted with steel tank like the DF singles, & both were supplied by Monty Banks.
Here is a pic of GGW 57C taken in 1984 by Keith Bolas, from what owner says its more or less the same but now with alloy mudguards
