  • Idle speed adjustment

Does anyone know how to adjust the idle speed on the Villiers s22 carb as fitted to the 2t engine? I've adjusted the mixture screw but the idle is too slow and I can't find any other adjustment except by tightening the throttle cable which is not an ideal solution as the idle goes up or down as you turn the handlebars.

My S22/2 has a cable adjuster on the top of the carb which I set the tick over with. It shouldn't be affected by turning the bars. I still prefer a screw as fitted to AMAL carbs.

      Idle adustment

'Hanging the throttle' on the cable is never a good idea as you say Graham it will tend to pull on full handlebar lock.
It is possible to drill & tap a thread for an idle screw in an existing carb. or alternatively obtain an S25/6 carb from a 4T/SRK engine as fitted to the Bond minicar which has the idle screw already fitted. The bike will also benefit from a larger carb, the later 2T's had the 25mm carb.
