  • Petrol Tap

Putting my tank back on East Coaster I discover the petrol tap doesn't tighten properly - it looked a bit flakey when I took it out and had a fair bit of Locktite or something like that on it. The brass thread on the tap looks shot and rather than trying to seal it in as before I thought I'd replace it. Can anybody tell me where to get hold of a replacement? I'm assuming the current one is the correct type - "hexagon on" push slider with a reserve lever in a seperate nut screwed onto the top.

    Paul Goff does them http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffypetroltaps.htm

The VMCC also do them http://www.vmcc.net/vmccshop/scripts/shop.asp?cat=7 price about the same £26 but p&p free.

Thanks John - is the correct sizing 1/4 x 1/4BSP?

Not sure, check the existing tap thread against the chart on this web page http://www.newmantools.com/taps/bsp.htm

Nearly all Brit petrol taps are 1/4 BSP, and for anyone looking for a cheap tap that works ok, you can get ball valve types from Ebay for £1.49 + 99p for the pipe fitting.
