I have just got this Ranger up and running after a long time hibernating (not with me). Lights work and moved around in first so clutch is okay. The S25 carburettor probably needs a new teflon float as it flooded out a couple of times though a few taps cured it. It is now road registered and I am waiting for a registration plate.

Flooding will be the needle not seating, the official trick is to give it a tap to make seating good. If it was the float it would flood every time. Will probably sort itself after a bit of use

The needle is made from square bar when it wears the square shoulder stops it seating.
it's best remake the point and it will cure the problem but you need a four jaw chuck.
Failing that Villiers services have new needles.

Thanks both - I will strip the carburettor and see what wear there is, I expect it needs a good clean out after a long storage.
