Engine meter hours recorders

I was at a Scramble meeting last weekend , and was intrigued by what i was shown on a bike, it was a device that is attached to the spark lead and was purchased very cheaply on e bay.

It records engine running hours i wondered if any of you guys out there were aware of these, i can see they must be very useful on Road race machines as keeping a record is essential for maintenance and replacing parts.

I smell danger! Just suppose our wives secretly put these on our bikes!

They could:

1. Detect when we play with them whilst they are away.

2. Use the hours to win arguments about the jobs we haven't done around the house.

Common equipment on vehicles and plant that do not register travelled miles. Most people just rebuild on a basis of experience or when it goes bang!
