  • Stafford advice

    Hello everyone,

Following on from my last thread regarding my rebuild of frame no. 10/1060 I will be attending stafford auto jumble for the first time next month, can anyone suggest Greeves orientated stalls that I should make a point of visiting?
I am from Northern Ireland so would like to make my trip as fruitful as possible.

Thanks Rob for the rapid response to my membership application.
My main interests with regards to classic bikes are trials Triumph tiger cubs and now Greeves, it will be interesting as the next few years pass which manufacturer will win this battle outright!

I will try not to ask to many questions on the forum but apologise in advance,
Thanks again for all the useful information relating to the previous thread.

    Greeves Autojumble

Not that I go to shows, but from what one reads about shows (both on this forum & elsewhere) these days the chance of finding Greeves stuff is a bit hit & miss. You may strike lucky & find someone who is having a clear out but in general it seems as though there are less & less genuine autojumblers attending these shows, & most stall holders are traders & dealers selling modern tat, or Chinese & third world made repro stuff. Unlike BSA, Triumph etc Greeves is a small name, so the amount of Greeves spares will always be minimal in comparison. Much better to attend the GRA AGM at Kidlington on 6th April where there WILL BE a 100% Greeves autojumble, the majority of sellers being club members who wont rip you off. There will also be the usual Greeves trade specialists, Villiers Services & Simon Bateman.

Fully endorse what John says. The Stafford jumble is very mixed, with quite a lot of Japanese bits appearing these days. Greeves bits do turn up, but you need to have a list of what you need and have a look at all the stalls. Does no harm to ask the stallholders of course. You'll need plenty of time though, it's a big show!

The GRA will have a stand there, most likely in the main hall. Do come along an introduce yourself. If you tell us what you're after we might be able to help on the day.

You're a member - ask as many questions on here as you like!

Thanks John and Colin for the replies, and yes I will certainly visit the GRA stand while attending stafford. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the AGM but will keep it in mind for next year.

        Best regards,

Mac - make a list of what you are needing and I will have a look for you at the AGM. If you have a mobile number, I can ring you from the 'jumble if I spot anything. It can then be brought up to Stafford.

See what awfully decent chaps we GRA types are!!
