Decompressor cable

Can anyone tell me what route the cable for the decompressor should run on a Scottish trials 1959 32a engine 250cc . The decompressor is situated in the left hand side of the head. At the moment I have removed the cable because it struck a wide arc to the side of the tank and looked very vulnerable to getting caught when trialling.

I would have thought it should go up under tank along top frame tube & through to the forks on the same route as the clutch cable. Just a calculated guess
