I have been working on my 1968 Anglian, and have found that it had a number of pieces changed in the past. On the engine, the chain-case says it is a 34A. It has been mentioned to me that perhaps the chain-case was replaced, but the crankcases may still be the correct 37A. How could I determine what the crankcases really are? If they are 37A crankcases, where could I get a 37A chain-case to make it more correct? Thanks. Hal

Villiers put the engine number on a plate as you have on your inner chaincase , if the chaincases got broken then a different pair fitted , they would have a different engine number . Not many owners changed the serial number plates .
The crankcases if original 37A would be slim without any strengthening webs , you are better of if you have thew 32A/34A crankcase , much stronger .
Most of the parts in the 9e , 32A,34A,37A & 36A are interchangable .
The best place for parts is over here , Nametab Eng. & Villiers Services will do all the parts you need , both can be found on Google .
