Hi i am trying to identify my hawkstone but cannot seem to find it. The frame number is 24 MCS/2/1160. I cant see the engine number at the moment so can not tell you anymore than that. I know it has a 197cc engine and it was apparantly used in the states. Can anyone tell me anymore?

Your bike is a model MDS at least it would have been in the UK! I am told that because the US was so fond of the MCS, when the MDS was launched here, in the US it became the MCS 2. In the UK, the MDS was supplied from about March 1962 onwards.
As you say it came from the US, that would be the explanation. Because the export records no longer exist, it is unlikely any further info is available on your particular frame number but I would love to be proved wrong!
