Don't think I have put this photo up before , the Main Works as seen from Church road , note the shadow of the photographer standing on a fork lift at lower right .

The doors under the Invacar/Greeves sign was the entrance to motorcycle assembly and the paint shop .

The pic is prior to the fire , the front of the factory was destroyed and rebuilt in brick .

The doors in the third bay were Goods Inwards , the window next the doors was DPC's office and next along was OBG's office .

From such humble surrounds, legends were created!
Love all the 'old' pictures from better times

Looking at the cars, i`d say the earliest date would be 69, looks like one of the first mk1 escort vans at the top leftish, also under the 15 mph sign, a mk2 cortina, am i anywhere close chris?

I can't really remember the year of the fire , it was 1977 according to the Walker/Carrick book .

Must admit I thought it was 1975 .

Wikipedia has this. So the fire was probably 1975 as you say Chris
The company floundered in 1976 and after a fire at the factory were unable to resume production and went into receivership.

              Main works photo

              I reckon it's '76
The new offices were finished before the start of '77 (paid for by the fire insurance I expect)
