  • Steering Head Bearings

Does anyone know a source for the ball type steering head bearings used on the 1959 Hawkstone?

I thought I had read somewhere of conversion kits to taper roller bearings but cannot find any reference or whether they will fit the Greeves forks.

The existing bearing cups are 15/16" internal diameter and 1 15/16" outside diameter with 1/4" balls. The critical dimension is the internal diameter.

    Hi John,

Villiers services can supply replacement cups/cones, i think you send them your originals then they can supply replacements.

If the cups and cones are ok? you can get the bearings from a pushbike repair shop, i know my local one had 1/4 bbs in stock last time i went.

    Regards

      Many thanks Scott.
The cups and cones on mine are indented so I will contact Villiers Services in due course.
      Another Winter job!
