  • The great Hawkstone rebuild.

Hi all, I have been off the forum for a while due to being unable to work on my bikes but I'm now forging ahead.

I bought my 1959 Hawkstone 250 about 5 years ago in bits as a granddad/grandson project but a bad bike accident put everything on hold for a bit.

My grandson has now moved to Australia so I'll be working on the Greeves on my own but still, I am excited to be getting it back together.

I have just finished respraying the frame parts in
RAL 5001 2 pack and I bought what I think is a 34a engine (no numbers stamped in the front case and id plate missing) so getting keen now to get the bike running.

I do need some parts for it though including front shock absorbers, steering head bearings with associated covers, (not sure if it is better to use timkin setup or not, not planning to go racing anytime soon) and front and rear brake parts.

Any help in obtaining these would be greatly appreciate.

    Thanks in advance
    Carl

You cant fit Timkin taper roller bearings to a 1959 frame, they need to be ball bearings not sure where you can get the races, but balls and covers etc are available from https://www.britishbikes1970.com/parts/fork-parts Front shocks are available from http://www.njbshocks.co.uk/
