Anybody have experience with crank/rod assembly from feked - http://www.feked.com/villiers-cranks...rod-250cc.html - possibly made by Wassell in U.K. Cost is considerably less than same product from Nametab.

    Thanks,
    Dean Newton

    Villiers Cranks

I've seen an ebay seller (welshscooterparts2009) also advertising these. In every case it says they are made in the UK, but never who the maker is!
I have no idea who is making these cranks, but would be very interested in finding out.
Looks like good value if the whole assembly is new.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

      Villiers Crank

Looks like they are from Wassell see:- http://www.motosofkenley.org/wassell...supplement.pdf
Wassell are only factors & dont actually make anything, they would get them made by a manufacturer (probably overseas). As they generally only sell through the trade I assume feked.com would source them from Wassell

Emailed feck.com & got this answer, looks like they are made in UK. Maybe Alpha if they are still going, or maybe Simon Bateman is making them!!

Sorry, I don't know the name of the company, but they are UK made, only 1 available at this time (197cc)
        thanks

            Are those prices still correct?
£150 plus VAT for the crankshaft is a total bargain!

            Cheers,
            Andrew

That is correct mike, the guy that was behind n/villiers, was clive tomkinson, ex dmw technician, i bought a crank & elec ignition about three years ago, for £300, & the quality was superb.
But the last time i spoke to him, i believe he was retiring ( not sure ), but the goods should still be good quality, hope this helps. dave.

                        Villiers Crankshaft

Thanks for all the input. I'm ordering my crank and rod assembly from Norton Villers @ 210 GBP. Clive answers the emails and the money goes to Sheffields. Simon quoted 325 GBP for the same parts.

                        Thanks,

                          Hi Dean.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I have the seals and main bearings if you need.

Are you entering your MD in the Chehalis National?

                          Cheers!

                            Kenny -
No MD for the National. I've entered the MX6 and the holeshot king 441. Will send an email about bearings.

                            Cheers,

                              Nametab vs Norton Villiers crank

The conrod is different on the Nametab crank compared to the Norton Villiers item.

I bought a crank from Simon (Nametab) about 5 years ago for my 250 Hawkstone for £320. It has the rod seen at the bottom of the page here: http://www.nametabengineering.com/greeves/

which differs to the rod seen on the NV site here: http://www.spbuckley.webspace.virgin...n/vspares.html

Can't say I agree with the massive price difference, but at least it accounts for some of the price difference - just a thought
