  • Villiers engine applications

In the Carrick & Walker book Villiers Everybody's Engine a 1H engine with the id number 799A is listed as going to Greeves (no model specified) between 1953-7. I did not think Greeves used the 1H (225cc) engine but maybe it was one sent for evaluation. Any ideas anyone.

    1H engine

I have since spoken to Rob Carrick & apparently a 1H engine was despatched to Greeves for evaluation, presumably Bert decided it was not suitable.

I once put a 1H engine into a DC frame, the exhaust port was too central making it difficult to make a pipe to clear the front beam,it worked but not very tidy.

Presumably you used the twin (2T,3T,4T) engine plates as mountings are same as 1H & 2H, but as you say exhaust port on singles too near alloy beam

Yes John everything as DC only used 1H engine to get a basket case on the road,2t engine fitted later, now a fully blown 25DC exhibited at the Bristol show for the two years, present owner is a proud GRA member.
