A local auction may not be the best place to sell it, being in Northern Ireland it is unlikely to attract mainland buyers unless its a specialist classic vehicle auction & has online bidding. ie Cheffins, Bonhams, H&H. A couple of old bikes in a local auction of general household items & other bric a brac will not attract the right sort of buyer. Obviously its not viable to send it over to one of the above auction houses but you could put it on eBay, or better still advertise it in the clubs Leading Link mag for offers (I am certain Colin Sparrow would be pleased to do that for you) At the end of the day you have to decide an acceptable price. Personally judging by current prices being achieved for Greeves bikes somewhere in the region of £750 to £1200 would be about right considering the condition of it. Be nice if it went to a club member who would restore it & ride it rather than some 'eBay dealer' who would probably try & tart it up & double his money. The decision is yours as they say. Finally a bit of advice, get it out of the building clean it up & take some decent photos before putting it up for sale. A bike that looks clean & tidy is more likely to get good bids/offers than one that looks knackered.

I was actually speaking tongue in cheek. With a bit of interest being shown on here I thought bids might start flying about.

I do fancy it myself, but N.I. is a long way from Suffolk...

Do post some decent pictures, and spread the spares out and let us have a look at them as well.

Don't forget that if you use eBay you'll have to arrange transport unless you specify buyer collects.

Yes, that is (still) the frame number. See my earlier posts on this thread.

It's in a bit of a state, it would take a top-class restorer to get it back - but it is pretty much all there, which is a good start.

                Hi Colin,

Yes the frame hasn't changed but just thought I would confirm it

Indeed the oil girl is in a state and would take someone better than me to restore hence accepting offers to sell it.

That is the one , it is a 24RDS Silverstone .

Your best bet is either e-bay or one of the good classic bike auctions .

Hi Colin, I had contacted the forum recently in regards to a bike I have and you had mentioned for a feei could find out what dealer it went to.

Do you think it possible I might find out its race history??
Any ideas how to go about it?

                      Regards
                      Mark

I notice Deskhead that you have now removed the photos of the bike from public viewing on Flickr

Hi john, the photos have been up for more than a year so perhaps Flickr deletes them after a certain time. . If you would like to see them, or anyone else for that matter just drop me an email address
