250cc 2-stroke racing machine, frame no. 24RCS156
RCS156 was sold by Dave Whitehouse to Fred Ellis in the early nineties. Fred was racing an RES at that time and kept it as a spare. It is uncertain if he ever actually raced it. Fred sold it to Stuart Jukes who in turn sold it to Colin Sparrow in the late nineties.
It is not thought Stuart ever raced it. Colin bought the original five-speed gearbox from Fred, however, and reunited it with RCS156. It was a cracking, ready-to-race machine when Colin sold it, the only departures from standard being a Griffon clutch and a PVL electronic ignition.
The most recent competition appearance to date was at the classic Bike Sprint at North Weald. At the end of the meeting, Brian Crichton, Associate Editor of “Classic Bike” did a couple of runs. He was subsequently pictured on it in “Classic Motor Cycle”!
