  • Bedford coaches

Here are the pics that I posted & Colin inadvertantly deleted, plus a few more.

Dews 1944 Bedford OWB (W denotes wartime) note this originally had a wartime austerity bus body which was replaced in 1952 with the Duple Vista 29 seat coach body. This is one of the oldest OB's still in active use on weddings etc

A 1950 OB new to Grace of Arlesford now privately owned by Bill & Connie Barton of Shennington. It was restored a few years ago after being used as a hippy caravan.

A 1959 Bedford SB3 Duple Super Vega new to Currie, Bexleyheath with a petrol engine, now fitted with a Bedford 330cu diesel. This coach had a total re build at Cobus, Bridlington at around £75,000 (& you think Greeves restorations are expensive). Now owned by Jon & Lynn Moore of Norfolk & operating with Spratts Coaches, Wreningham.

Another 1962 Bedford SB3 with the later Super Vega body, displayed in its original Crimson Tours of St Ives, Cornwall, now owned by Len Wright of Norwich. This one still has its 300cu petrol engine doing 8 miles to the gallon
There are only currently two of this type restored as buses plus another tastfully converted to a motor home (see below)

XDL 730 an SB8 (Leyland diesel engine) started life with Seaview Motor Services IoW & is now converted to a motor home. Owner Ruben Youngblood, Norwich.

Talking of caravans this 1962 SB8, 558 FBF was restored back from a caravan, using another coach as a doner of parts, last year by Jon Brenson of Brentwood. It was new to Happy Days Coaches of Wednesfield, now presented in the livery of Brentwood Coaches.
These are just a very small selection of Bedford coaches that have made it to preservation.
