Utter rubbish. Guy Martin did a programme on UK TV recently & proved that its not possible to ride a bike on water for any distance only a few metres. Even if you can get the bike to plane on the water ski attachments there is not enough thrust from a tyre even if fitted with paddles as in the film clip. The other problem Guy found was to keep the bike upright as it not possible to balance the bike. If our Guy cant do it this guy certainly cant.Last edited by John Wakefield; 03/08/2015, 11:44 PM.

Robbie Maddison says he thought he was going to die during final take of him riding adapted bike on water in French Polynesia in advert for DC Shoes
Loads more links here....
...and how's this for real..... This is Peahi, better known as Jaws, one of the biggest 'a-frame' breaks on the planet.....Mike Parsons, legend, nailing a rhino......conservative estimates had it at 64 feet on the face.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhjP1c5agLU
This is Teahupoo, the same wave that Robbie Madison rode on his his 'wet bike', as ridden here by Laird Hamilton in this clip.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF5tWOcc6Is ....redefining the impossible..... Don't think Robbie's wave was as big as Laird's though......
Anyway....like, any excuse to post some surfing clips....brah....

Great vids Brian, breathtaking stuff there, guy martin is a very talented chap with many skills to his credit, but i`m sure he being the very down to earth chap that he is, would be the first to admit & respect the fact that there are others out there, who have talents in there own specialist fields, far exceeding his.
Look at these vids again & appreciate the sheer skill & nerve it takes to achieve feat`s like these, very focused people indeed putting it all on the line..

Toadaly awesome.......
Very very nicely put indeed Dave......glad you enjoyed the clips chuckle brah/dude!
It get's my attention at Llangennith when it's 6 foot on the face.....looks a hell of a lot higher when you're paddling out....and that's a mission in itself when it's firing.....Let alone being mindful of the rips.....and the sea badgers.....they can give you nasty nip.....

More Sea Badger sightings.....
Phew.....sounds like you had a lucky escape there Colin......
One session we had at Llangennith, a few of us were just sitting on the water about a quarter mile out, in position waiting for the next set to come in, when a seal popped up right next to us for a look at the wierd looking humans on their ironing boards..... Made me jump, that's for sure! Magic moment though....we decided to name him 'Lew'.....
Basking sharks are quite common there at certain times of the year as well, although we were never lucky enough to see one....Dolphins too.....
Lovely part of the world, the Gower.

Nitro Circus did the same thing about 9 years ago, the only public footage I can find is on Youtube and its not very good quality. The bike only had a plate around the front wheel, but the rider (Jim de Champ) rode for over 600 metres on water. Mythbusters also did it without any modifications, but the distance travelled was much shorter.
The key to success is speed!
Jim de Champ can be seen 19:33 into the video:

The truth is out there......
It's no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.
- Mark Twain.
The difference between what the most and the least learned people know is inexpressably trivial in relation to that which is unknown.
- Albert Einstein.
Our acceptance of any new concept always seems to pass through three phases: At first, it is declared impossible. Then, as supporting facts accumulate, their interpretation is said to be erroneous. But finally, everybody says blandly, "We knew it all the time."
- Arthur Schopenhauer.
For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible.
- Stuart Chase.
The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it's not open.
- Frank Zappa.
(...but not so open that all your brains fall out.....! - Some Geezer. )
.....I read a story on Robbie Madison's wet bike footage (a 'behind the scenes' piece) and sure, he admitted there was some judicious editing required, and no, you don't see the ramp on the boat that he had to use to launch into the sea....but you know what? Seeing it put a smile on my face, and a good feeling, to know that there are people out there pushing the limits of what's possible and doing stuff that nobody has before. He also admitted he was scared doing it and took some pretty heavy wipeouts in the process....Also, the bike apparently took two years to develop. Don't think the BBC budget would stretch to that for Guy Martin's attempt....
People once said that waves over a certain size couldn't be surfed because however fit you are you can't paddle fast enough to catch them. Then a group of friends came up with the idea of tow-in surfing using jetskis, then realised that you needed to add footstraps on the board to control it....so they just cobbled some up that they'd taken off a snowboard. When the word got out nobody could believe it.....now it's SOP for big wave surfing.

Wet Bike Tech.....
Exactly so Dave.....
Here's the set-up, for anyone interested to pore over/ponder/comment on...... Oh......and a couple of surf monkey pics as well......
From what I understand, the 'skids' are made of rubber. Interestin' arrangement of levers, at both ends but especially the rear......looks like a lot of careful thought and design has gone into this, let alone the tasty fabrication. Wonder if you could use metalastiks.....
Brian.Last edited by Brian Thompson; 09/08/2015, 05:25 PM. Reason: Pics attached....with additional monkeys.....
