  • Griffon clutch

My six day bike has a Griffon metal clutch, which presumably was designed for the max power the 380 could produce, has very heavy springs. Old age, decreptitude, etc etc makes it rather a problem. My slightly detuned engine does not need that capability. Anyone a found a source of lighter springs, or want to share having some made? Peter.

Hi Peter, Talk to Terry Sewell, he rebuilt my Griffon clutch on my 24MX4, was a handful beforehand, now its just 2 fingers. I think he changed the bearing, he was going to change springs to softer ones but he changed a couple of plates, and the order of the plates, re-routed and changed the cable, changed the clutch lever for one with greater levearge and its now 2 fingers not a handful. he rebuilds the clutch on the 3 hill climbers he runs for Steve Atkins a few times a year.
