I'm in the process of rehabilitating a Greeves Anglian that's been sitting for 25 years in heated storage. The engine is now complete and I've turned my attention to the Ceriani front forks. The fork tubes have now been completely rebuilt but I can't figure out how to get the steering stem out of the frame steering head. I've removed the topic yoke, adjuster and dust cover. By rights, shouldn't I be able to tap the steering stem out by tapping on the top of the stem? I've tried with a plastic hammer but I don't want to try too hard if there's something else I should have done - especially given potential damage to the tapered rollers supporting the stem. Am I missing something?
