Scottish BHC hubs felt seals

This seems a simple question but just in case there is a problem here it is. I am fitting new bearings to a pair of BHC hubs. I am using the modern bearings with the 2RS designation i.e. double sealed. Because of this I am assuming that the felt seals are no longer required and by inference the washers that sit betwen the felts and the old style open bearings are also not required. Is my logic correct? Apologies if this has been asked before but a search doesnt throw up any similar questions.
