    I discovered years ago the trick of using instant gasket on one mating face, then assembling the pieces with a gasket but only tightening fasteners slightly. 24 hours later, nip it up properly. Has always worked for me on airhead rocker covers, and one of the best things is that you can split and refit the parts repeatedly because the gasket stays safely on one face.

    So much the same as you Whitehillbilly.

    This is what I’ve done refitting my chain case cover. The paper gasket is no BMW rocker gasket though. We’re oil tight so far, but sitting in the lounge is one thing…

    If it doesn’t work, I’ll be buying some decent gasket material and making my own. I’ll leave the Kellogg’s boxes to better men than I
