  • Qub 73?

Hope someone can help. We have just secured a 380 QUB .It was a one owner machine bought new locally to us from Beamish Motors.
We want to rebuild to original. We are looking for as much information as possible..Colours etc, perhaps someone has a picture of a machine as new to give us an idea.

No previous history of this bike on Survivors list, it is a 1972 model. I assume you are in East Sussex. Cant help with colours etc but someone will be along with that info.

      Hi Norcom,

There's a bunch of good info on this thread that should help get you started (along with some of the usual lunacy we used to enjoy....) ; https://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/fo...30-post-1-of-3

Also, there's a catalogue scan on this thread that could be handy as well. ; https://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/fo...tory-brochures

Finally, here's an article covering a Griff restoration. ; https://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/fo...reeves+Article

Hope it helps, and good luck with the bike, which I must say already looks very original and a terrific start.

      Brian.

My pleasure Norcom, and glad it will be of use.

I meant to add this link to Craig's excellent thread on his Griff restorations, with a wealth of extremely helpful (and fun!) contributions from the lads. It also contains several links to other useful and relevant threads that I'm sure you'll find useful. Here you go; https://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/fo...on-qub-rebuild

As I said earlier, looking at your pic it looks to me like you've got a very original and unmolested looking bike there, bar the mudguards and sticker (placement) which need investigating. I'd suggest some careful research as it may end up more a case of preservation rather than restoration, with a good recommissioning job then use and enjoy as intended.

Let us know how things progress!

          Regards,

          Brian.

That's a 1973 Model 63 QUB 380 in its original clour scheme of black frame and "Golden Glow" metalflake tank and side panels. There's a works picture of a brand new one on page 201 of my book.
