  • Pre 1960 Scrambles Eligibility

A question for you active scramblers:- whilst recommissioning my 1959 24SAS, I had thought of rebuilding the wheels with flangeless alloy rims. I see the SAS on ebay has them. Would that affect it's eligibility for pre '60 scrambles? What are the requirements? I have done a recce of the pre 1965 MX club, but can't seem to find where the eligibilty regs are hidden.

    Thanks in advance. Ian

We ride under the auspices of the AMCA, Ian, and according to their Classic Rule Book 2019 (which includes all aspects of machine eligibility) and which is downloadable in pdf format (25 pages long!) It does not appear to ban alloy rims on a Pre 60 bike, but does lightweight hubs produced outside of the period.

Hi John. Thanks for that. I did discover a link to the Motocross Rulebook on the Pre '65 MX Club's website. Clearly that is the wrong book! I have found the classic one now.

      Regards. Ian

It should be similar, Ian. Pre 65 Motocross Club adheres to AMCA Classic Rules.
