  • Front Axel Threads

    Hi,

Does anyone know the thread type on the Silverstone RES front axel. The one we are working on needs a bit of a refurb.
Also looking for the clutch rod length plus any roller sizes for the RES running a 5 speed Albion box and Griffon clutch.

    Thanks

Trevor, might be worth you buying a thread gauge, then you can work out what the various threads are https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deals%E3%80...82977194&psc=1

9/16” x 20 TPI cycle CEI was standard fitting.

I can't remember now, when I fitted the Griffon clutch to my Silverstone with the CC 5-speed, whether the clutch push rod remained the original length or not. I have made a couple of new rods over the years from 1/4" silver steel (drill rod), hardened at both ends. Just heat the ends to bright red and quench in water. You can check whether they are hardened successfully using a file.
