  • New Member Introduction - Greaves Bike Project

    Hi All,

I have recently acquired a new project is I think a Scottish frame number 5054T stamped on near side of headstock. The engine has no number stamped or sign of a plate. It is a 250CC four speed box. I hope you can help identify this. Any help is most appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Barry Edwards

Its a 1955 20T (trials bike) frame, it would have originally had a 8E engine (see pic) this is the current listing on Survivors List
eBay Robertsbridge 10/16 frame only modified. ebay Feltham 10/20 £1799 as almost complete bike with later forks & rear shocks, tank and 250cc engine requires finishing. More about it on this thread https://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/fo...frame-no-5054t

    Where are you situated Barry?

The previous thread was in a members only area, so Barry being a non member will not be able to read it. Here they are posted by myself unless stated. Note eBay links no longer live. Pics from eBay listings at the time.

Sadly this has been 'butchered' to fit the later spring shocks, frame No stamping looks a bit suss as its not in the usual place, but does refer to a 1955 20T
Seller has other bits including 1957 forks, wheel and a number plate some of which may be from same bike.

Back on eBay £1799 at Feltham as complete bike with later forks and rear shocks & 250cc engine. Should have friction dampers and 8E engine, also front hub not Greeves https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREEVES-2...0AAOSwIwtflrC0

On a '54 or '55 bike the frame number would have been on the right-hand side of the steering head. Something's not quite right. Caveat Emptor.

Front hub looks like it could be triumph cub so should work well if fitted correctly. I think butchered maybe a bit harsh John it might of been modified to take shocks and have a later more useable engine fitted but isn't that part of the fun with old bikes?

There are only 13 1955 20T's (including Barry's bike) on the Survivors list. Sammy Miller has one TZ3820 in his museum
