    Bike Insurance

Its a case of shopping around. There are the specialist brokers Footman James, Carol Nash, Devitt etc & some clubs (not the GRA) have so called special terms with them, but very often you can get cheaper cover with a local broker where you can talk to a human rather than a robot or some far flung call centre in India. There has been alot of criticism on other forums recently regards FJ & CN, some feel they are not providing the service that their name sakes started with. In both cases I believe the orginal owners have sold out & moved on.

        Classic Bike Ins.

        Hi.

I'd like to endorse John's comments. I was with Norwich Union for years, after Devitt DA refused to believe that any motorcycle could cost more than £1,250 in 1976. (I'd just bought a Moto-Guzzi for £1,600). By 1995, they were charging me £600 pa for my 1979 BMW RS100, which was then worth about £300....(250,000 miles, in good nick, but not popular as a s/h bike then). So I changed companies. I had already taken out a Policy with Carole Nash, who I met at the 1st ever Stafford Show, really nice lady and a motorcyclist, to cover my other bikes including several Greeves..........and....the contents of my Workshop. The £60 pa was a revelation. I've since insured all my 'bikes through CN but, after Carole sold up and it became a PLC, the prices rose and the service became a bit....well sloppy to be quite honest. I still pay about £125 pa to cover 4 bikes & workshop, which I reckon is good.

If you intend to look after your Scottish, and do very few miles, then no decent Ins Co would expect you to be claiming every few weeks. In fact you would be the ideal customer, taking extra care of your 'bike. This basis WAS what CN used to deal on. It's a good point to make when talking insurance......

        My experience anyway....does that help?
